Traditionally, indigenous people make rattles (\’karawasi\’) from them by tying the dried ripe fruits in a warimbo basket (woven from Ischnosiphon arouma) to a stick and stamping them on the ground in a certain rhythm during traditional dances, creating a rattling sound. Among the Wayana people, krawasie\’s are also worn on the ankles.
